History

Appomattox  Court House National Historical Park - This park marks the site of the original village of Appomattox Court House and has been preserved exactly the way it stood on April 9, 1965. Includes the McLean house, where General Lee surrendered to General Grant.

Appomattox Courthouse Theater - local production by the Appomattox Courthouse players offer varied productions including musicals, mysteries and comedies, as well as original productions relating to the historical events that took place in Appomattox VA.

Appomattox County Historical Museum - housed in the old Appomattox County jail building, this museum displays interesting memorabilia from the area and days gone by.

Clover Hill Village - a six acre living history village where the heritage of Appomattox VA comes to life. Get a glimpse of the daily life from 1840 to 1920 as you browse through the historic buildings.

Holliday Lake State Park - nestled in the heart of Appomattox-Buckingham State Park.This award winning state park is a wonderland for outdoor enthusiasts. While swimming is the main attraction for visitors, there are a variety of outdoor activities.

James River State Park - features 12 miles of boat access to the James River, 1,500 acres of meadows, three fishing ponds, 15 miles of trails and forests.
