Buggs Island Lake

Completed in 1953, this 50,000 acre reservoir was constructed for flood control and production of hydroelectric power, but also provides benefits such as wildlife resources, forest conservation and public recreational uses.
The lake is one of the premier bass fisheries in the country, providing a prime habitat for white, striped and largemouth bass, catfish, crappie and walleye. This lake attracts campers, fisherman and boaters all summer long, but the 26 designated wildlife management areas along the shoreline attract hunters throughout the fall and winter months as well. Stop by and enjoy this year-round recreation spot, you might just decide to stay and call it home.
